Sometimes the best way to find inspiration is to limit the scope of possibilities.
Casey at LifewithRoozle recently titled a post about black-and-white photography “Seeing the Light.” Yes, I thought, I want to see the light! So I took my camera to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden — to a garden! — and took only black-and-white photos.
Would I have seen the shimmer of this fountain …
or the strange and marvelous trunks of these trees …

… if I had been looking in color?
With some imagination, we can turn the smallest amount — just a few minutes, a scrap of paper, the light alone — into enough.

Through what limitations have you found inspiration?

Wow! Great photos! Doesn’t black and white totally blow your mind?!
Casey recently posted… Roozle’s Plate: Egg Night
A week or so later, and I haven’t yet broken through to where the black and white blows my mind. But I like the way that working with black and white draws my attention to the light.
These black-and-white photos of my neighborhood are amazing. Yes — I want to be able to see my world in that way!
