Most evenings, I nurse the Gnome to sleep and then put him in the cradle next to our bed. Later in the evening, when I go to bed, I bring him into the bed to lie down next to me.
Soon, the Gnome will be too big for the cradle. We don’t have a crib anymore, and there’s no safe place in our bedroom for a mattress on the floor, so he’ll probably move to the Critter’s mattress and the Critter will get an actual bed.
The Gnome doesn’t fuss too much, so I don’t really like the idea of having him sleep in a different room than me. How will I know that he needs me? So even when he has his own mattress to sleep on, I’ll still be bringing him to lie down next to me when I go to bed myself.
I don’t believe that his fussing less means that he needs me less.
No. Because he fusses less, I need to keep him close. I need to listen more carefully.

He is gorgeous! And I love this: ‘I don’t believe that his fussing less means that he needs me less.’ He is a lucky boy.
